[Lenses for Vintage Frames]

SOLAKZADE is particular about lenses for each vintage frame, considering it's historical background, frame shape and material.

For instance, we strongly recommend mineral glass lenses in zero or one curve for American zyl frames made in 1950s and 1960s whose front frames are in zero or one curve.

When we cut lenses for a vintage frame, we make the lenses a little bit smaller than just the tight size for the frame.
This is because we think I have to minimize the pressure from lenses to frame rim.

And if you go to an optical boutique and ask them to put lenses to your vintage frame, and you tell them that your frame is vintage made in 1950s, they feel it would be risky.
So they will usually refuse your request.
Or even if they accept your order, they would tell you that if by any chance they broke your frame, they cant be responsible for it.

You can telephone a few optical boutiques and ask about it in advance.

[Plastic vs Glass]

There are 2 kinds of lens material, Plastic and Glass.

I recommend you the Glass material if you would like NON-COLOR lenses.
And if you dont wear the glasses while playing sport.

Though Plastic material is popular and predominates since 1970s because of the 3 reasons below:
#Plastic lenses have much more color variations than Glass lenses
#Plastic lenses weigh half compared to Glass lenses
#Opticians can far more easily cut Plastic lenses than Glass lenses

These above are the merits of Plastic materials.

But if you need NON-COLOR lenses and you dont mind the weight, Glass material is evidently better for 4 reasons below:
#Through Glass lens, your vision is far clearer
#The Glass lens has the quality to last long (for more than 10 years) while Plastic lenses for about 2 or 3 years
#Glass lens are resistant to heat so you can wear them while bathing (sauna bath is still ok!)
#Glass lens are scratch resistant originally. Far stronger than Plastic with hard coating.
#And.. Back in the 1950s, there were only Glass lenses so the eyeglasses with glass lenses have far more vintage taste!
